Our History
Sacramento Living History was established in 1995 and is governed by the Historic Old Sacramento Foundation. The primary purpose for which the organization was formed was to teach, while entertaining, the history of Old Sacramento and to create a living street museum with authentically costumed characters, performing re-enactments, giving tours, participating in events and promoting Old Sacramento, California.
Currently Sacramento Living History has over 70 members. We accept new members continuously and have an annual training program for new members.
The organization operates on an approved set of bylaws and has five acting officers which are elected yearly for one year terms.General meetings are held once a month in the Living History Center at 1101 Second Street, Lower Level, Old Sacramento, California. Meetings are held monthly on Saturday morning.
Parking is available on the street fronts or in the city’s large, brick parking structure at the south end of Old Sacramento on the corner of Neasham Circle, Capitol Avenue and Front Street. For specific directions from your location, you can use Map Quest.
